T.C.A. Supreme Cattery of Excellence
Our Queens are kept in private maternity wards from about 2 weeks before they are due. This really cuts down the stress of childbirth and allows them to best care for their tiny babies.
Ragdoll kittens are born white. After ten days their color and pattern slowly starts to show. Ragdolls mature slow and it may take up to 3 or 4 years before they have reached their full size, weight and pattern coloring.
Since ragdolls take several years to mature, the queens may not have a litter until they are several years old. They generally have litters in the spring and summer and are encouraged to rest in the fall and winter. Kittens leave for their new homes when they are ready based on their emotional and physical development. At this time they are completely weaned and potty trained and ready for the next phase of their development in your home.
At this point, they have had their first set of vaccines and are litter box trained. Kittens that will be flying on an airplane will need to be a bit older so they are not traumatized by the flight.
